This morning we said goodbye to our cottage in Fenier and hit the road for the trip into Switzerland. The trip involved going up (and through) the Alps, including Alpine tunnels and predominantly the Motorways. We managed to get through the toll stations and border crossing without any major mistakes. Even the driving is becoming a little less stressful the more we do. We diverted to a Swiss town beside a huge lake area, surrounded by mountains, for our lunch. It was very picturesque, and a great opportunity to stretch our legs after the drive. We then continued on our way to Fribourg, and although arriving before 3pm it took almost an hour to locate our accommodation and get the car parked. Once established, we discovered that an international Jazz Festival commenced here yesterday, continuing for a week. We had our dinner in the Plaza listening to the music coming from the Festival enclosure. Prior to that we did a walk around the city, taking in the
sights and visiting the Cardinal "Museum of Beer". The company was established in 1788, and still brews today. At the end of the displays we were given a couple of glasses each as a "tasting". Most enjoyable. We finally have internet access again so there are a few days to catch up with for you all. We are having a great time; tomorrow we move on into Austria. The weather continues to be hot : high twenties to low thirties. A change from all the storms back home.
Hi Chris et al,
ReplyDeleteLovely to hear from you. Glad to hear you are safe and well and experiencing a cultural extravaganza. You certainly have packed a lot onto a short time. Great pics, I loved the one at Dame Tartine (what an evocative name!) and it's good to hear that you are taking time out to sample the abundance of local cuisine and wines. I'm green with envy!
Sounds like the weather is ideal unlike the wintry weather here.
Looking forward to the next instalment of your ongoing adventures. Meanwhile keep safe.
Love
Mum xxxx
Sounds like the only things you guys don't get lost finding is the wine and the beer!!!!!
