Hit the road again today after exploring the surrounds of Cashel. After leafing through the tourist guide we opted to visit Cahir. Cahir was the prettiest Irish town that we have explored. The Cahir castle stands in the centre of town surrounded by the river that was once the natural defence barrier for the castle. A guided tour of the castle was definately worthwhile, and then exploring the castle was even better. We were able to climb the castle walls and climb down the stairs of the escape route of the castle. Another Cahir "must do" was a vist to the Swiss Cottage. The cottage was 2km from the castle and could be accessed by road or walk the scenic route. As it was perfect walking weather, we meandered through the woods and along the river banks, passed playing fields and a golf course. As we reached the cottage, we spotted an otter playing on the grassy banks! The Swiss Cottage was the "weekend getaway" for the Butler family (royalty of Ireland). After a snack in an Irish pub, we hit the road to find P
ark South B & B. Negoitating the country backroads of Ireland is now second nature, despite having to share the narrow roads with lorries and tractors.Tonight's B & B situated in Doneraile is certainly country as cows can be seen grazing in the paddock across the road. Homemade scones and butterfly cakes with a hot bevvy was certainly welcoming! Mellow(another country town nearby) is awaiting the Australian tourists visitors for dinner!
Looks a tad cooler in Ireland! Sounds like a very nice welcome at your B&B.
