After the busy, hot day in Roma, it was a last minute "what shall we do today?" question quickly assessed by Jennifer, one of the wonderful hosts of La Toretta. After we tossed around a few ideas, and the predicted hot weather forecast, we decide on a trip to "the Beach". Not "the beach" as we know it, but a wonderful lake that was originally a volcano. After a short trip through rural Italy and some breathtaking views, the lake was even more amazing than expected. Lake Bracciano, surrounded by hills and stretched for miles, is definately a summer holiday choice by the locals. Pretty beach umbrellas and matching beach lounge chairs dotted the lake edge, and many Italians we enjoying the hot weather and beautiful surrounds. As we soaked ourselves in
the cool waters of the lake, white swans swam by with not a care in the world. After a relax on the lava coated and hot rock beach we decided to head for lunch. As recommended by our Casperia hosts, a great seafood lunch was shared. O.ur drive back meant more breathtaking views and the photo stop @ Calcuta, a medieval village built into the cliff. A great night was had @ the local "Friends" restaurant in Casperia watching the beautiful sunset over the mountains.
