Day 10 - In The Hall Of THe Mountain King

It was spectacular waking up to a view of the Alps out of our bedroom windows. Sun glistening off snow and clear mountain air - glorious. After breakfast we drove to Steinach - the next village - and caught the train into Innsbruck. We spent hours walking around taking in the sights - not only the scenery, but also the buildings, market places, and even a local Brass band recital. We then had a good look through the local museum ; including an amazing sound & light show about King Maximillian 1st, and a look at his tomb in the church next door. After a bit more sightseeing we caught the train back to Steinach and then took the cable car up the moutain to really get a view from the top. Spectacular. So now we are home ; got internet acces for an hour for 5E and catching up on blogs & emails. Tonight we will have dinner at the hotel and tehn tomorrow off to Salzburg

  2. Hi Chris et al,
Sounds like you are having a wonderful time. Love the photos - the Alps are spectacular. Must have been breath taking views from the cable car.

Driving sounds like a hair raising experience where RED is open to interpretation by the Australians!

Looking forward to your next blog. Can the trip get any better???

  3. Sounds like you are all having a fabulous time drinking your way round europe. When you get to Saltzburg dont forget to do the Sound of Music bit in the gardens, drives the locals mad.

  5. Have only just got on - I blame the amount of email in my inbox for it. Lost the email in the deluge. Sounds like a blast, although, for the sake of your arteries, I'm glad you left France. All those pastries! But you were washing them down with red wine, so paradox ahoy, I say! Love the mountain photos. Have fun. Mel
