Today we bid farewell to Austria and once more made our way across the Alps as we travelled south into Italy. The drive wasn't too bad ; we finally got the TomTom working using new maps and consequently found our hotel easily. Once settled we did our now customary visit to a new city : we caught the bus into Padua and explored the city on foot.The daylight until 9pm gives us plenty of time to get around. We visited the Palazzo della Ragione and saw some of the other sights, then caught the bus home and walked to a local Italian Restaurant. It was very authentic : antipasto course of octopus salad, and a menu that included several dishes with horse meat. We erred on the side of caution and stayed with roast rabbit & pasta dishes. It was all very nice; but ..... ! Fortunately we could return to the hotel where the bar is open 24 hrs for guests and mull over the day with a few red wines. Tomorrow we travel to Venice.
