Day 35 : Its A Hard Rain (Gonna Fall) (29/7/09)

Woke up 7.45am to the sight of falling rain. After breakfast, loaded our luggage in the car - in the rain - for the trip to Birmingham. We drove in wintry conditions, rain & spray, offloaded luggage at our next B&B and then Dave & I dropped the car to the airport car hire (in the rain) and caught the train back into town. We waited at the B&B for the rain to stop; but by 1pm decided to go into town anyway. After lunch there, we split up again and both couples worked their way around the shopping precinct in the rain, getting wetter and more despondent despite umbrellas or raincoats. We met up again 5.45pm - still raining, and made our way to a nearby pub to revive our drooping spirits and get some tea. Four pints later we emerged into the twilight to find - the rain had finally stopped !! Made our way home, but don't know how the cricket will go tomorrow. We are prepared for many rain interruptions ....

  1. This is a sad tale. After going so far to see an Ashes Test what a shame that the English weather should do this to you. We will be looking out for you in the crowd during the match if they manage to get some play. Thanks Carmel for the text messages. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

    Love to all
