Day 38 : Homeward Bound (1/8/09)

It was raining again when we woke on Saturday morning. As it turned out, the whole third days play of the cricket was washed out but we were heading home anyway - albeit with a stopover in Dubai for two nights. By now we had realised that in Birmingham there's no point waiting for the rain to stop, so we walked up to the train station with our luggage in drizzle & caught the train & short monorail link to Birmingham airport. We had to wait around a while; then had our eight hour flight to Dubai. By now we were seasoned travellers, so we coped well - even if it was in economy class. We touched down at Dubai airport after midnight, but this place is so big that even at that time of the night with all flights still arriving it took at least 45min to get through the passport control, then we had to wait again for the transfer to our hotel. We all agreed a late breakfast was in order for the following morning, and gratefully went to sleep.
